How to improve the sound effect of operable partitions

What are some ways to improve the sound effect of operable partitions?

Here are some ways to improve the soundproofing effect of operable partitions:

Optimize material selection

· Use high-density materials: such as thickened steel plate, plasterboard with higher density, solid wood, etc. These materials have a large mass of their own, which can better block the sound propagation, and according to the law of quality, the greater the surface density, the better the sound insulation effect.

· Use multi-layer composite structure materials: composite materials of different materials, such as filling sound-absorbing cotton, rock wool and other sound-absorbing materials in the middle of two layers of steel plates, or sandwiching a layer of sound-insulating felt in the middle of gypsum boards, utilizing the absorption and reflection properties of different materials for different frequencies of sound to improve the sound insulation performance in a wide frequency range.

· choose special soundproof glass: for glass partition, double insulating glass, multi-layer laminated glass or vacuum glass can be used. The air layer in the middle of double insulating glass can effectively block sound transmission; the adhesive layer in the middle of multi-layer laminated glass can absorb and dissipate sound energy; and vacuum glass can greatly improve the sound insulation effect by reducing the medium of sound transmission.

Improve the installation process

· Ensure sealed installation: In the installation process of operable partitions, special attention should be paid to the sealing treatment with the ground, ceiling and adjacent walls. Materials such as rubber sealing strips and sealant can be used to fill the gaps between the partition and the surrounding structure to prevent sound from leaking through the gaps.

· Adopt elastic connection: When installing the rails and fixings of operable partitions, adopt elastic connection methods, such as using springs, rubber pads, etc., to reduce the sound transmission through the rigid connection between the partition and the installation structure, and to reduce the transmission of noise due to vibration.

· Ensure installation flatness: Ensure the surface of movable partition is flat when installing, avoiding sound reflection and scattering due to uneven surface of partition and affecting sound insulation effect. At the same time, ensure the verticality and horizontality of the partitions so that the partitions fit closely with the surrounding structure and improve the overall sound insulation performance.

Increase auxiliary sound insulation measures

· Installation of sound-absorbing boards: installing sound-absorbing boards on one or both sides of the movable partition can effectively absorb sound and reduce the reflection of sound in the space. The material of sound-absorbing boards can be chosen from wood sound-absorbing boards, polyester fiber sound-absorbing boards, mineral wool sound-absorbing boards, etc., which can be selected according to different usage environments and soundproofing needs.

· Hanging soundproof curtains: On the basis of operable partitions, hanging an extra layer of soundproof curtains can further improve the soundproof effect. Soundproof curtains are usually made of thick fabric material with soundproof coating or sound-absorbing cotton, etc., which reduces the spread of noise by increasing the obstruction and absorption of sound transmission.

· Setting up sound gates: If the requirement for soundproofing is very high, sound gates can be set up at the entrance of the movable partition. A sound gate is a soundproof structure consisting of two doors, which can effectively prevent sound from leaking through the opening of the door instantly when people enter or exit, further improving the soundproof effect of the space.

Reasonable Design and Maintenance

· Optimize space layout: When designing a space using movable partitions, try to avoid placing noisy areas directly adjacent to areas that need to be quiet. If it can't be avoided, buffer spaces can be set up between the two, such as corridors and rest areas, to reduce the impact of noise on quiet areas.

· Regular Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly check the sealing condition of movable partitions, the wear and tear of the tracks and the performance of the sound insulation materials, etc., and promptly discover and repair any problems that may occur, such as replacing worn-out sealing strips and repairing damaged sound insulation materials, etc., so as to ensure that the sound insulation effect of operable partitions is always kept in a good condition.
